Newburyport crash leaves pedestrian dead – NECN
A pedestrian has died after being hit by a pickup truck Wednesday in Newburyport, Massachusetts, according to authorities.
The Newburyport Police Department said the crash happened around 6:40 p.m. near the intersection of Green Street and Pleasant Street. A Ford pickup truck hit a female victim.
The office of Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker said later that the victim had died after being transported to Anna Jacques Hospital.
The driver remained at the scene, authorities said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Tucker’s office said no charges or citations had been issued.
The victim’s name is being withheld until family can be notified.
