Play Play

Grilled Cheese Pizza with Hidden Valley Ranch (Upgraded Version)
A tastier version, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and with the perfect touch of ranch. Key improvements: garlic-oregano butter for a garlic bread-like exterior, layering order to prevent sopping, cheese on both sides for a perfect melt, and ranch incorporated in two ways (inside + for dipping).

Ingredients (for 2 sandwiches)
For the garlic-oregano butter:

4 tablespoons softened butter
1 clove garlic, grated or finely chopped
1 heaped teaspoon dried oregano
Optional: pinch of Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning Mix

For the sandwiches:

4 thick slices of bread (sourdough, bloomer, or sturdy Italian bread)
1/2–1/4 cup shredded or sliced mozzarella (best if you use a mozzarella blend with a little provolone or Monterey Jack)
3–4 tablespoons pizza or marinara sauce (not too much)
10–12 pepperoni slices (or mini pepperoni)
Optional: finely chopped red onion and bell pepper (sautéed beforehand), jalapeños, fresh basil
Hidden Valley Ranch (original or spicy) for spreading or dipping
Extra butter or olive oil if needed

Instructions

Make the butter: Mix the softened butter with the garlic, Oregano and (optional) a little Ranch Seasoning. Set aside.

Prepare the fillings (if using vegetables): Sauté the onion and bell pepper in a little oil until tender and all the water has evaporated. Drain well and set aside. This prevents the sandwich from becoming soggy.
Assemble the sandwiches (important order):
Spread the garlic-oregano butter on the outside of each slice of bread.
On the inside of two slices: layer of cheese → pizza sauce (in the center, not touching the bread) → pepperoni → vegetables (if using) → another layer of cheese.
Top with the other slice (butter side out).

Pro tip: Spreading a very thin layer of Hidden Valley Ranch on the inside (over the cheese) adds a flavor boost without making it soggy.

Cook over medium-low heat: In a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat (not high, so the garlic doesn’t burn and the center melts). Cook for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is completely melted. Press down lightly with a spatula.

For extra crunch, sprinkle some grated Parmesan on the outside before flipping.

Serve: Cut in half diagonally.
Serve with a generous bowl of Hidden Valley Ranch for dipping (a must).

Optional: extra warm pizza sauce on the side.

Upgrades That Make All the Difference

Aromatic Exterior: The garlic-oregano butter transforms the bread into something like garlic bread meets pizza.
No Soggy: Cheese on the bottom and top + sauce in the middle + pre-cooked vegetables. Two-Layer Ranch: Subtle inside + generous outside.
Texture: Thick bread + medium-low heat = perfect crust and gooey center.

Quick Variations: Add sautéed mushrooms, ham, or use spicy ranch; swap pepperoni for salami or bacon.

Ready in about 15–20 minutes! It’s much tastier and more balanced than the basic “pizza + cheese + ranch” version. Enjoy!
