Two people hospitalized after crash caused by shots fired Tuesday night in Wake County

Authorities are investigating after shots were fired at a vehicle Tuesday night in Wake County near Rolesville.

According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle hit by gun fire that crashed while traveling west on Mitchell Mill Road near Jonesville Road.

A Jeep Wrangler and a dark-color SUV were traveling on Mitchell Mill Road when shots were reportedly fired at the Jeep. The Jeep then drove off the road and flipped onto it’s side.

Authorities said no one suffered gunshot wounds, but emergency crews took the driver of the Jeep and a passenger to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries related to the crash.

The dark-colored SUV left the scene. Deputies are working to determine the circumstances behind the incident.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing and no one is in custody.
