The Status of Apex Legends Mobile in the USA (2025)
This is an important and timely question. Unfortunately, as of 2025, you cannot download or play the official Apex Legends Mobile app in the USA or any other region.
Here’s a clear breakdown of what happened and what your options are now.
What Happened to Apex Legends Mobile?
In a significant move that disappointed millions of players, Electronic Arts (EA) and Respawn Entertainment officially shut down Apex Legends Mobile on May 1, 2023.
The reason cited was that the “current version of the game” did not meet their standards for quality, quantity, and consistency. Essentially, the game was not living up to the long-term vision the developers had for the Apex Legends franchise, and the decision was made to discontinue it entirely.
Key Takeaway: The game has been removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store globally. Any website or third-party app store claiming to offer the official Apex Legends Mobile app is not trustworthy and should be avoided, as it could be a scam or contain malware.

Looking to the Future
While the original mobile version is gone, the Apex Legends universe is still expanding. Respawn has announced a new project, but it’s important to understand what it is:
- Apex Legends Universe: EA and Respawn have confirmed they are working on new mobile projects set in the Apex Legends universe. However, these are new games being built from the ground up, not a revival of the canceled title.
- No Official Release Date: As of 2025, there is no official release date for a new Apex Legends mobile game. It’s best to follow official Apex Legends social media channels and news sites for any future announcements.
